Building Stone refers to a variety of stackable natural stones.  Generally flat on the top and bottom, they make great retaining walls, borders, steps and some varieties are also suitable for paths. 

Ledgestones are generally rectangular pieces of natural stone that are 3 - 6" wide, with various lengths and heights.  They are most often used for fireplaces and other veneers, but can also be stacked as small retaining walls or used as borders for paths and gardens.
