Columbia River Basalt Squares & Recs
Split into actual squares and rectangles, this is the Columbia River basalt for projects where the wall needs to look intentional rather than natural. The geometric shapes lay up with cleaner vertical joints and more consistent course heights than Louie Rock or A-Split. The result reads as built stonework, not a gathered field wall. At 3 to 5 inches thick, the pieces are sized for hand-set walls without heavy equipment.
This is a middle option in the line. More refined than Louie Rock or A-Split, less linear and tightly stacked than Ledgestone. The squares and rectangles vary in size piece to piece, so the finished wall has rhythm and variation without losing its squared-off character.

- Garden and border walls: Build low walls with clean lines along beds, paths, and driveways
- Raised planter and seat walls: Stack squared pieces into planters or seating that read as crafted rather than rustic
- Dry-stacked retaining walls: Hold grade with a more refined face than blocky wall rock
- Wall caps and accents: Use larger rectangles as cap stones on rougher Louie Rock or A-Split walls
- Pillar and column bases: Lay up squared pieces for mailbox pillars, gate posts, and entry columns
